Pastor Benhur was attacked during a church service at Jalliguda on January 10, 2010. The attackers justified this action by claiming that the pastor and his community had violated the “Anti-Conversion Law”.

“Anti-Conversion Laws” have time and again led to the arbitrary harassment and suppression of Christians. Dalits, above all, have borne the brunt of this aggression.

We call on your Government to guarantee religious freedom in all Federal States and to curb the activities of Hindu extremists.

Le 10 janvier 2010, le pasteur Benhur a été attaqué par des extrémistes hindous, pendant un service dans son assemblée à Jalliguda. Les agresseurs ont justifié cette action en prétendant que le pasteur et sa communauté avaient violé la «loi anti-conversion».

Les «lois anti-conversion» conduisent fréquemment au harcèlement et à l’oppression gratuits des chrétiens. Ce sont surtout des dalits qui ont été atteints lors de cette agression.

Nous invitons donc le gouvernement indien à introduire la liberté religieuse dans tous les Etats fédéraux et à multiplier ses efforts afin de stopper les activités des extrémistes hindous.
